FAQ
What is counselling?

Counselling, sometimes called “talk therapy”, is a form of psychological help. It is one or several meetings between client and psychologist that help identify a problem and take concrete steps to resolve it. It is a short-term process focused mainly on behaviour change: usually 3 to 6–8 sessions.

What is psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy addresses general patterns and chronic difficulties and usually lasts longer than counselling. It aims to improve psychological well-being, ease problematic behaviour, beliefs and emotions, and develop relationships. The work involves regular scheduled sessions in which we explore your feelings, their origins and their impact on the present.

Do I need a psychologist?

Each of us faces difficult situations. There is nothing wrong with seeking support when you feel you are “running in circles”, not coping and feeling low. A psychologist offers a safe space to express and explore your feelings and, if needed, to work through the root of problems and develop new coping skills.

How long do I need to see a psychologist?

The length of therapy cannot be predicted in advance — it depends on many factors unique to each person. Usually a client feels therapy is complete when the main issues are resolved and new energy and confidence appear. For most people, weekly sessions are the most productive.

How do I know if a therapist is right for me?

This is an important question, because the success of therapy depends on it. Don't rush the choice. Notice whether you feel comfortable, whether the therapist takes you seriously and supports you, whether you feel you are in safe hands, and whether trust arises.

How long is a therapy or counselling session?

A session usually lasts 55–60 minutes. Initial couples consultations may be an exception — 80–90 minutes with a corresponding fee. To avoid being charged for a missed session, please cancel at least 24 hours in advance.

How do I know that psychotherapy is working?

The simplest way is to review your goals regularly. Signs of progress: more understanding of your own behaviour and reactions, changes in habitual thinking, less sense of isolation, growing hope and optimism, ease and belief in your own abilities.

How much does an individual session cost?

An individual session costs UAH 1500 for 50–60 minutes. Payment is per session; current details can be confirmed before booking.

Are sessions online or in person?

I work in both formats: in person in Kyiv and online (video call). The online format is as effective as in-person and convenient if you are in another city or abroad.

How do I book a session?

Leave a request through the website form or message me on a messenger — we will arrange a convenient time for the first meeting.

How long and how much is a couples session?

A couples (family) session lasts 80–90 minutes and costs UAH 2200. The first meeting helps clarify the request of both partners.

What if my partner isn't ready for therapy?

It's best not to push — that can harm more than the existing problems. A good option is individual therapy: changes in one partner often shift the dynamics of the relationship too.

Is there “homework” in couples therapy?

Sometimes yes: it can be a joint exercise or discussing a specific topic at home. In the next session we review your experience and any difficulties you encountered.

Is this depression or just tiredness?

A short spell of low mood after an event usually passes on its own as circumstances improve. But if low mood, apathy and fatigue last more than two weeks and don't ease, it's worth seeking professional help to assess your condition.

Why do I always feel I'm not good enough?

The feeling of “never enough” is often rooted in early experience and a habitual inner critic. In therapy this can be seen and, step by step, you can build a stable sense of self-worth independent of external approval.
